First diary, so please be kind!

I'm not much of a writer, so this won't be much of a diary. I'm better at recommending others' excellent writing, in this case a thought-provoking article on CBC.ca.

I'm a fan of Neil Macdonald's op-ed pieces; I have been for quite some time. For those of you not familiar with him, he is a senior correspondent with CBC News, who has spent considerable time in the middle east. He has a fabulous way of clearing away the bullshit and pointing out the elephants in the room.

His latest is a piece called "Exceptions Are US", describing a couple of the CIA's kidnappings and renditions in Europe, which have been highly publicized in Italy and Germany. Especially telling to me are his comments on the almost complete lack of attention paid to these renditions in the US media. You can find it here:
